A significant transformation occurred in 2005 when, under a presidential decree focused on enhancing medical education quality, the First and Second Tashkent State Medical Institutes were consolidated to form the Tashkent Medical Academy. As a result, the Urgench branch of the First Tashkent State Medical Institute was renamed the Urgench branch of Tashkent Medical Academy.
